How is a lump of coal different from a diamond?

Their carbon atoms are arranged differently. Nanotechnology aims to create matter as needed by moving an object’s atoms around. So that coal could be turned into diamonds.
Nanotechnologies are the set of theories and techniques enabling the production and manipulation of objects on a nanometric scale. The prefix “Nano” means “very small” in Greek.
The term nanotechnology refers simultaneously to the nanometric sized materials themselves, and to the miniaturization techniques that can reduce an object of micro dimensions down to nano size, through an extension of microtechnology.
