- Competitive Intelligence has been a growing sector of China’s information services market since 2003, with a large proportion of Chinese companies stating that they undertake considerable CI research before making strategic decisions.
- From 2003 to 2006, around 150 Chinese companies bought CI software from Chinese suppliers. However, these systems now require more current and powerful software so that their CI research is carried out most efficiently. The task of searching for more advanced CI services was made even more difficult by the closing down of the eCIS department of Baidu, a Chinese web services company, in 2006, leaving Chinese companies without a domestic CI software provider.

The China Institute of Competitive Intelligence (CICI) will hold its
7th annual Competitive Intelligence conference in Beijing
between 13th and 15th November 2011.
In the past, the conference has been host to numerous members of the leading CI consulting firms and this year, the current SCIP chairman and the VP of Business Intelligence for Prudential Retirement Mr. Scott Leeb will be the keynote speaker at the conference.
